PoorSweet Wise Response - We use SIlpin's in our classrooms. In Nashville, our classroom sees as many as 5,000 students per year and we have not replaced a single rolling pin in over 3 years. Our students treat them roughly and occasionally even drop them on the floor w/o damaging them. It is likely that you were unfortunate and received a defective unit. If you'll email us a picture and we confirm a recent purchase date, Sweet Wise will gladly refund or reship a new rolling pin according to your preference.
I bought this rolling pin about 2 weeks ago and used it last night for the first time. I was about 5 mins into rolling out my first piece of fondant for a 3 tiered cake when the metal caps around both ends below the handles began to pull away. Over the next few rolls the end caps completely came off making the silicone wrapped arounf the rolling pin start to come out. I was able to tuck them back in and continue, but am REALLY disappointed that it came apart at first use. Not worth the money at all.
