About THE MAT…. similar plastic or vinyl products are petroleum based and contain phthalates that are used as a plasticizer. Both are known to create health problems and concentrations of these can build in the body over time. Most if not all similar plastic products are made in China and use petroleum oil and contain phthalates and heavy metals like mercury and lead. If you unroll similar plastic products and smell the plastic, you’ll smell a strong chemical or petroleum order. If you smell THE MAT in comparison, you’ll notice a nice clean smell similar to plastic food wraps.

 

We chose to have THE MAT manufactured in US so we could be absolutely certain that THE MAT is made of food safe materials and manufactured in a food safe environment. THE MAT is made with soybean oil and other food safe components that are listed as food safe in Code of Federal Regulations. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the United States Federal Government. Title 21 Sections 174 - 182 is the section of the CFR that pertains to materials and substances that are determined to be food safe.

YES!!!
I am really enjoying The Mat! Worked great with MMF (will be even better now that I know to use PS for any small air bubbles) One thing I did have a hard time with was using duff fondant...it would not release from Mat...any suggestions? Also how do I store The Mat? back in the tube? That is what I did but it had ripple marks..what did i do wrong..I know you will set me straight!

Sweet Wise Response. Glad you're enjoying using your new MAT. THE MAT works great w/ Duff fondant too... just knead in a little powdered sugar until the sticking goes away. YES! Store your MAT back in its tube. To avoid the buckling marks, just place matte finish againt matte finish (the reverse of how top and bottom are used) and the porous matte finish prevents THE MAT from sticking to itself and causing those ripple marks.

No more guess work - perfect results!
I am so thrilled with my new Pro Mat! A fellow cake designer told me about it and after watching the video, I had to order one for myself. I just finished using it for the first time on my first wedding cake. WOW. I am completely amazed. My time spend rolling out the fondant and covering the cake was cut in half! No more guess work - this system works!! I would HIGHLY recommend it without reservations.

The best for rolling out fondant!
I've had the original MAT for 2 years now and only have great things to say about it. It cuts down on rolling out the fondant and since you have more time to roll out the fondant it doesn't dry out and get that nasty elephant skin. The MAT also gives you the ability to roll the fondant very thin and transferring it to your cakes are so easy. A great tool to have for any baker.

Great Mat
I bought this mat after watching the you tube demo.
I love that it gives you a nice smooth look but I find that the surface is a bit sticky and it is difficult to use the fondant smoothers. I have prepped the mat as directed and even after several uses the fondant is still sticky. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
How did you solve it? Thanks.

Sweet Wise Response - Kathy discusses this in the video in a couple places. She mentions waiting for fondant to crust slightly or dusting your fondant smoother with a little powdered sugar.

Love the mat!!!
I have had the old version of the mat for about a year. I absolutely love it. It makes covering a cake a snap. Can't wait to get the new improved version.

Thrilled
I am so thrilled! I'm a home cake decorator & new to fondant. As I don't really have the right work surface to deal with fondant without a lot of sticking "The Mat" is an answer to my prayers! No more sticking! I can't wait to order one. Thanks again!!!

Best Fondant Product Ever
I love the Mat!!! What a great Product, seriously I had been reluctant to take fondant orders because I had only good results... I wanted perfect results... and that is what I got with the Mat!!! Thank you for making such a wonderful product I can't believe how quick, efficient, and perfect covering a cake is using the Mat... You video is great too...so many helpful tips! Thank you for creating and sharing this.... I will definatly refer this to anyone I know that does cakes.....

Easy to use
Love my mat but not great for MMF. Causes pock marks and does not produce a smooth finish. Can only get a smooth finish when I use premade fondant like Satin Ice or Fondarific which is much more expensive than making my own. Thought it was something I was doing wrong in making the fondant but have figured out after reading several reviews on Cakecentral.com and on google it is the mat and its not very compatible with MMF. ;(

Sweet Wise Response - THE MAT does work great with all fondants including MMF. The pock marks are a result of trapped air and eaisly corrected as Kathy demonstrates in the video. After rolling out your fondant, if you see pock marks, just lift the top sheet away and sprinkle a little powdered sugar on your fondant and then lay the top sheet back down. Give a couple firm rolls with your rolling pin and the pock marks will disappear. The powdered sugar "lifts" THE MAT's top sheet just enough so that the air causing the pock marks can escape. We've tested this and it works great.
